Ashington Train Station
After 60 years, the regeneration of the Northumberland Line was given the green light to bring back passenger trains between Ashington and Newcastle. Premier Plant secured the contract for the surfacing works which included a car park, platform and s278 works. This covered approximately 10,000 sqm, using over 4000 tonnes of tarmacadam and asphalt. The train station, which has been operational since December 2024, has since won a national prize as ‘Britain’s most life changing station’ in 2025.
